At Google, I was paired with a senior engineer from a more traditional enterprise background on a cloud infrastructure project. I was used to rapid iteration and shipping MVPs quickly, while they preferred thorough planning and comprehensive documentation before any coding.
Initial Challenge:
Our approaches clashed early on. I wanted to start coding after a brief design discussion, while they insisted on detailed architecture reviews and formal specifications. Our first code review turned into a 2-hour debate about the implementation approach, and I could see we were both getting frustrated.
